I'm Bill, a lifelong fisherman with a passion for the water. Growing up on the Jersey Shore, I spent countless hours fishing with my dad, chasing Fluke, Sea Bass, Stripers, and Bluefish in the salty waters. And when I wasn't on the coast, I was exploring freshwater lakes and streams for Largemouth and Trout.

I moved to Marathon Ten years ago and never looked back. I founded Top Notch Sportfishing to share my love of fishing in the Florida Keys with others.

Comfort & 360-Degree Fishability

The 31' Egret CC

The Top Notch is a spacious 31' center console powered by a clean burning Yanmar diesel engine. A large T-top provides ample shade and an in-board mounted engine allows plenty of room to fish off the transom. Fighting a Sailfish or Tarpon is a breeze since you have a 360 degree fishing area. This vessel will comfortably fit 6 passengers for a half, 3/4, or full day fishing charter. The Top Notch is equipped with a full suite of the latest Garmin electronics and radar.

Target Species

We target a mix of iconic species inshore, nearshore, and offshore.

Barracuda

These toothy predators are known for their aggressive strikes and powerful runs. While barracuda can be caught year-round, the best time to target them is during the summer months when water temperatures are warm. Live bait, such as pilchards or mullet, is a popular choice for attracting barracuda.

Sailfish

Sailfish are known for their incredible speed, aggressive eats, epic fights, and wild acrobatics. The peak season for sailfish in the Keys is typically from November through April, although they can be caught year-round. Live bait, such as pilchards or goggle-eyes, is a popular choice for targeting sailfish.

Permit

Permit fishing off the coast of Marathon is a bucket-list experience for many anglers. The best time to target permit is during the spring on the wrecks. Live bait, such as crabs, are the most effective way to entice these wary fish.

Grouper

The Keys have a variety of Grouper species, including gag grouper, black grouper, and red grouper. We target grouper year-round off of Marathon over reefs and wrecks with live bait and heavy tackle. These are some of our favorite species to target and put up a heck of a fight.

Blackfin Tuna

Blackfin Tuna frequent the Marathon Hump year-round. We target them offshore using live bait like pilchards and trolling with artificial lures. These hard-fighting fish are some of the best-eating fish you'll catch off the coast of the Keys.

Snapper

The Keys are home to a variety of snapper species like yellowtail snapper, mangrove snapper, and mutton snapper. Snapper fishing is great year-round. We target them around natural reefs, artificial reefs, bridges, and other structure. Snapper are great to eat and fun to catch.
