Reef, Wreck, & Bay Fishing

Our wreck, reef, and bay fishing charters typically yield higher numbers of great-eating fish paired with epic fights from giants. These are great trips for families and groups looking to get out, make some memories, learn about fish species, fish habitat, and fill the cooler. We love sharing our knowledge and experience with anglers of all experience levels and are dedicated to customer satisfaction.

The species we target depend on the weather and seasons. We have dozens of spots and are sure to get you hooked up on some incredible fish. Show up at the marina and be ready to depart at 7:30 a.m.

Target Species

Fishing reefs, wrecks, or in the bay, you can catch various types of Grouper, Snapper, Jack, Mackerel, Trout, as well as Sharks. There is so much diversity in species and habitat around the Marathon area; it’s always exciting when you set the hook. You never know what you’re going to reel up!

Where We Fish

We’ve been fishing around the Marathon area for over a decade—finding and patterning the best fishing spots. We pick our spots for each trip based on the weather conditions, water conditions, and seasons to ensure you have the best chance of landing fish. If a spot’s not working, we’re going to bounce around until we start hooking up. Some of our favorite spots are wrecks like the Thunderbolt and structure like the seven-mile bridge rubble.

Tactics include vertical jigging, drift fishing, and kite fishing with a mix of live bait like Pinfish, Pilchards, and Ballyhoo.

What's Included

We’re preparing for your fishing trip well in advance. When you show up, the boat is clean, rods are rigged, and the baitwells are packed with live bait. We have a cooler packed with ice for your food, water, and snacks.

All rods, reels, and fishing tackle are included in the price so you can focus on what really matters: reeling in fish. Your trip will include all the necessary fishing licenses for the day. The crew will clean and fillet your catch for you to take home at the end of the trip.

The vessel can accommodate up to 6 anglers comfortably, no matter the skill level. Top Notch Sportfishing will provide you with all of the fishing gear for your bountiful day on the water.

We’ve got a Bluetooth stereo to connect to your device and play your music of choice.

What To Bring

We always advise our guests to pack light but to pack for the weather. We recommend long-sleeved SPF apparel and pants. In the Keys, rain can pop up at almost any time, so a rain jacket is great to have handy, but sometimes the rain is a great cool down during a hot day on the water. Be sure to bring all the food and beverages you’ll need for a day on the water—our cooler has all the room to store your essentials.

If you want to bring your own fishing tackle, you’re welcome to bring it, but we use only the highest-quality rods, reels, and tackle.

Capt. Bill Giliberti

I'm Bill, a lifelong fisherman with a passion for the water. Growing up on the Jersey Shore, I spent countless hours fishing with my dad, chasing Fluke, Sea Bass, Stripers, and Bluefish in the salty waters. And when I wasn't on the coast, I was exploring freshwater lakes and streams for Largemouth and Trout.

I moved to Marathon Ten years ago and never looked back. I founded Top Notch Sportfishing to share my love of fishing in the Florida Keys with others.
